Ecosystems

Developing innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems

An innovation ecosystem does not emerge from a single programme: it is built phase by phase, connecting talent, startups, companies, investors and territory. That is why at Inlea we developed our own seven-phase model, which Inlea Foundation has applied since 2008 alongside public and private organisations.

The Inlea model: seven phases of an ecosystem

  1. 01Awareness and engagementAwakening entrepreneurial vocation and mobilising young, well-trained talent.
  2. 02Training and incubationProviding method, mentors and support to new projects.
  3. 03AccelerationHelping startups grow faster and with less risk.
  4. 04Connecting with companiesPutting startups in front of industry and major events.
  5. 05Connecting with investorsTraining investors and opening the door to the best startups.
  6. 06InternationalisationTaking startups and companies to global markets.
  7. 07Ecosystem buildingIntegrating every stage to build complete ecosystems.

How we support an organisation

  1. 01

    Diagnosis

We start from what already works in the territory and measure the gaps holding back its growth: investment, internationalisation, acceleration, open innovation, leadership or diversity.

  2. 02

    Ecosystem design

We define the pillars to be built around that asset: acceleration, international alliances, flagship events, talent communities, open innovation, scouting or investment vehicles.

  3. 03

    Phased roll-out

We start with the pillars of immediate impact and consolidate the rest, together with the organisation and its partners, until the ecosystem runs on its own.
